Jack and the Beanstalk – A Children’s play

We happened to be passing by McKinley Hill’s Venice Piazza Mall last Saturday and after following their facebook page and instagram,we had free passes to the children’s musical by Kids Act Philippines. It was scheduled a bit late at 7pm but the kids were hyped about it and didn’t feel a bit of sleepiness after dinner.

It was their first musical experience and the kids in the musical were very inspiring and talented. The musical ran quite lengthy at 1.5 hrs but my 4 year old’s attention span did not waiver the whole time whereas my 2 year old son fell asleep after an hour. He was trying to keep awake because the excitement of watching the  story unfold was too high. Eventually he couldn’t fight sleep and slept through the ending of the show.

There was quite a crowd due to the Venice Grand Canal finishing construction but since it was raining, we didn’t bother taking photos. As a serial multitasker, I did a bit of grocery shopping at the Robinson’s Selections while the kids were having dinner.

They culminated with an extravagant show of fireworks, which I learned the McKinley Piazza will have all Saturdays and Sundays of December. I’m sure it was a proud moment for the families of the children onstage. It was a rainy weekend and still they pushed through with the show that they offered for FREE to mall-goers so I appreciate their dedication to their craft at such a young age.

Before the show ended, I asked my 4 year old if she would like to be like these kids one day. She told me a solid “No”. It takes a LOT of talent, practice, and confidence for these children to sing and dance on stage. I AM hoping that she will get do do that some day, but there’s no need to rush or force it.

Follow The Venice Piazza at McKinley Hill’s facebook page to be updated with free events for children like their upcoming one on Dec 27 with Dibo the Gift Dragon where you can also have your kids donate their old toys.
